ACCESSIBILITY

Introduction

The Leopold Hotel is perfectly located within the new revitalised Leopold Square, situated within the city centre’s latest retail quarter. 

This boutique hotel is an ideal location for business and leisure guests, situated within walking distance of Sheffield theatres, Winter Gardens and a variety of bars and restaurants.

Each of the 90 air-conditioned en-suite bedrooms, comes complete with a wall-mounted plasma television, ipod docking station with radio alarm clock, hard-wired internet with keyboard and tea / coffee making facilities. The hotel offers a range of facilities including fully accessible rooms and an induction loop at the front desk.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

All guests should use the main entrance of the hotel located on Leopold Street.  The ground is paved but there are a number of steps.  If there is difficulty with using steps there is a lift which can be accessed through the side entrance on to the square. The hotel does not have a car park on site but does have a negotiated rate with NCP car parks in Sheffield a few minutes away by foot. The Duty Manager is available 24 hours on site if you wish to discuss any issues regarding your stay. If you need assistance with luggage, equipment or guidance, please see the Duty Manager.

Main Entrance & Reception

There are no steps in the main lobby area. The front desk is to the right of you when coming in through the main entrance. There is seating in the lobby/reception area and the adjoining bar area. The reception desk is 119 cm high.  Registration can be completed whilst sitting in the reception area. There is an induction loop installed at reception, staff can advise of the best location. The bar is situated immediately opposite the main entrance.  The restaurant, used for breakfast only, is located on the lower ground floor just across from the lifts.  There are no slopes en-route or at the entrance to either the bar or the restaurant. The floor surface throughout the reception lobby is tiled and it is not reflective or shiny. The lifts are located along the corridor to the left of reception; through three open doorways and one large door which opens outwards (push).  Please ask for assistance when checking-in if help is needed with your luggage.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

The lift has buttons at standard height.  There is one mirror at the back of the lift at a height of 93 cm from the floor. The other sides are metallic.

Public Areas – WC

The public toilets are located on the lower ground floor, just to the left of the lifts.  There is one unisex disabled-access toilet which has an Emergency Alarm pull cord, vertical rails either side of basin and toilet and the floor is non-slip.

Restaurant & Bar

The bar is on the ground floor, immediately opposite reception. It has level entry and is open-plan with tiled flooring. The bar has low-level lighting at night, but there is an area which is well lit also. The restaurant is on the lower ground floor which can be reached via the stairs or lifts. There is a host point on entry to the restaurant where staff will seat you at a table. The restaurant is self-service for breakfast, however table service can be provided if necessary. Lighting cannot be dimmed. Menus are not available in large print. We are able to cater for varying dietary needs, please advise staff when making your booking. The colour of our crockery is mainly white. The nearest toilet to the restaurant is just outside the restaurant entrance to the right.

Laundry

Dry cleaning service is offered.  Bags are available in bedrooms and should be dropped at reception by 9am each day for same day delivery. Bags are not collected from the bedrooms. Dry cleaning service is not available on Bank Holidays or weekends.

There is a terrace area located in the square with standard height tables and chairs.

Bedrooms

There are five accessible bedrooms which are located as follows:        one on the lower ground floor one on the ground floor one on the second floor two on the fourth floor Specific facilities within these rooms include a walk-in shower with grab rails, grab rails either side of the toilet-horizontal and vertical, seating spy hole, television with remote control. Only double bed combinations are available. Bowls can be provided for food and water for assistance dogs.

Conference & Banqueting Meeting Rooms

We have three conference rooms situated on the ground floor and two on the lower ground floor, all with easy access. Door widths range from 85 cm to 93 cm All conference rooms benefit from natural daylight and all are fitted with blackout curtains in case daylight is not needed. Lighting cannot be dimmed. Please notify the conference organisers in advance if any additional services are required for conferences, e.g. PA, typist, specific seating or staging.  We do try to accommodate everyone’s needs where possible. The nearest toilets are the public toilets mentioned previously.

If you require any assistance during your stay please contact reception.  The Duty Manager can also be contacted via reception. All staff have regular training which includes disability awareness training. All housekeeping staff have been trained and are aware of procedures to aid privacy in bedrooms. There is good network coverage for mobile phones within the hotel and average coverage from the lifts and bedrooms.
